      God Speaks to Solomon Again

When Solomon had finished the temple of the Lord and his own palace and all the other building he was pleased to do, the Lord appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

And the Lord said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made to me. I have made this house that you have built holy, putting my name there forever; and my eyes and heart shall be there perpetually.

"If you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my judgments, I will establish the throne of your kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David your father, saying, 'There shall not fail you a man upon the throne of Israel.'

"But if you turn away from following me, you or your children, and refuse to keep my commandments and my statutes that I have set before you, going to serve other gods, and worshipping them, I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them, and this temple, which I have hallowed for my name I will cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people

"And every one that passes by this temple will be astonished, and shall hiss and say, 'Why has the Lord done this to this land, and to this house?'

"And they shall answer, 'Because they abandoned the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have adopted other gods and worshipped them and served them; so the Lord has brought upon them all this evil.'"

Pharaoh king of Egypt attacked and taken the city of Gezer. He burnt it and had slain the Canaanites who lived there, and gave it as a present to his daughter, Solomon's wife.

And Solomon rebuilt Gezer, and Bethhoron the nether, Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the storage cities and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon wanted to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

But Pharaoh's daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Millo.

Three seasons in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the Lord, and he burnt incense upon the altar that was before the Lord. So he finished the house.

King Solomon made a navy of ships in Eziongeber, which is beside Elath, on the shore of the Gulf of Akaba of the Red sea, in the land of Edom. Hiram sent in the navy his servants, sailors that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon. They came to Ophir, and brought home gold, four hundred and twenty talents to king Solomon.
